A native of Los Angeles, Gershon began her career in the music industry by booking concerts for the University of California Santa Barbara. After graduation, she went to work for Avalon Attractions as a concert promoter, and in 1982, she left Avalon to work for Backstreet/MCA Records as Senior Director of Creative Services. Soon after, she became Vice President of Wavelength Video, one of the premier music video pools.

Gershon's passion for country music eventually led her to start her own management company, eventually representing Warner/Reprise Artist Rosie Flores and Curb Artist Jann Browne, among others. While maintaining her management company, she was also hired as a song-plugger in 1988 by EMI Music. She worked for EMI in Los Angeles for one year and then re-located to Nashville, where she was made Director of Creative Services for EMI Nashville.

In 1989, Gershon was hired by Sony/ATV/Tree Music to run their pop division as well as exploit their country catalogue. In 1992, she was appointed Senior Director of Talent Acquisition, and was responsible for signing acts such as The Mavericks, Joe Ely, Carlene Carter, and James House.

In 1995, Gershon left Sony to become Vice-President of A&R at Imprint Records, where she was responsible for the signing and development of all artists on their roster. In January 1998, she joined the Fitzgerald-Hartley Management Team as a partner in the High Seas Music Publishing Company and the Gershon Music Group. The partnership was set up to include special projects such as album compilations, soundtracks, and music supervision and film opportunities.

Gershon sits on the Board of Directors of Leadership Music, NARAS, and The Actors Bridge Theater Group. She is the sister of actress Gina Gershon.
